Henry Budd has, after being my Consultant Spinal Surgeon for over three years now been able to carry out (delayed due to pandemic) a Lumbar Fusion and Segmental Decompression. Almost 3 months after the procedure I no longer have lower back or leg pain and it is wonderful to be able to walk without being in agony. Henry Budd kept me informed all the way through as to how and eventually when this operation was going to be carried out. The care and assistance received from both him and his team has been first class, and I can't thank them enough.

On 30/11/2021 Mr Budd performed a miracle. After 20 years of slowly increasing lower back pain - the cause of which seemed to defeat professionals - and considerable time and money spent on physio., osteopathy, gym work and acupuncture, last August I was stricken with unbelievable nerve pain leaving me barely able to walk, drive or sit. My GP was prescribing ever increasing pain killers, including considerable morphine, and I was housebound, reliant on kind friends to shop and often cook, as I live alone. Thankfully, I was referred to Mr Budd, and the miracle was a procedure called disectomy, decompression and fusion. I now have considerable metal-work in my lumbar region, was pain free the morning after, and can already walk several miles with no discomfort. Mr Budd patiently answered my questions and explained the procedure with various imaging before and afterwards, I am in total awe of his expertise - and obviously the skills of his team - and I will never be able to thank him enough for restoring the active life that I feared was lost for ever. Perhaps I should mention that although I am 71, I now feel confident that I have many active years ahead, thanks to the skills of Mr Henry Budd.

Mr Budd carried out a bilateral segmental decompression on my L3/4 and L4/5 on the 16th September. At all stages leading up to and post surgery Mr Budd kept me advised of the what the procedure involved, answered questions, and made me feel at ease Prior to surgery I had been using increasing amounts of pain relief for over two years. My walking was limited too about 25 yards, with the aid of a stick and my lower limbs were either numb or suffering with constant pins and needles. My sleep was constantly interrupted due to pain. Following the surgery I was up and walking the same day. After two days I felt an improvement in my mobility. After 9 days I had stopped the pain medication and and was able to walk 100 yards or more and have continued to improve in all aspects of mobility since. The care and outcome I received from Mr Budd and his team was first class.

Mr Budd treated my mother performing an L4/5 decompression and instrumented posterolateral fusion for a severe spinal stenosis. He took the time to explain the different options and likely outcomes available to her and we came up with a plan for her both pre and post surgery. At all times he demonstrated care for the patient, was careful to explain things in a language she understood, and put no pressure on her to rush the decision. After surgery there was an immediate improvement and all the pain my mother had been experiencing went away. Mr Budd stated the day after surgery how well things had gone, and at the follow up appointment a month later again reiterated how pleased he was with outcome. My mother has regained her mobility, and is getting back to being the active person she was before this condition arose. It has also prolonged her independence which she so cherishes. We are forever grateful to Mr Budd for the positive impact she has had on my mother and for taking the action he did which, if he had not done it, would have resulted in my mother ending up with severe mobility issues.
